Experts from across the e-cigarette, tobacco control and healthcare sectors will come together this week for the E-Cigarette Summit, an event aimed at helping improve the scientific understanding of this still-new category.

The online event runs from 3 to 4 December.

Subject areas which will be covered include moving to a post-tobacco era, the portrayal of e-cigarettes in the media and the effect of e-cigarettes on vascular and pulmonary health. Speakers include representatives of the New Nicotine Alliance, Public Health England and the Science Media Centre.

The event is independent of any tobacco or pharmaceutical companies and is funded by individual delegate tickets.

Announcing the event, the organisers said: “Now moving into its eighth year in the UK and fourth year in Washington D.C, The E-Cigarette Summit has gained an unrivalled reputation as a neutral meeting point for scientists, regulators, industry, public health and practitioners to explore the latest research on e-cigarettes and facilitate respectful debate on what remain highly-controversial issues. The aim will always be to ensure that disparate views can be explored in context of a common aim, which is to reduce smoking related death and disease.”
