Front-line workers who smoke – including NHS workers, police officers and Blue Light Card carriers – will benefit from a £100,000 donation of vape products to help them quit smoking.

Vape Chain VPZ has announced the move as a “thank you to frontline people that were tackling the virus head on”.

Doug Mutter, Director at VPZ said: “It has been a long and difficult fight against this pandemic, and it is has been in large part [thanks to] the work of front line staff that we are beginning to see parts of the country reopen and a sense of normality return.”

VPZ stores have been open for almost a month and, after a discussion with staff, Mutter says the donation was considered the best way to give something back.

“We all agreed to offer free products to the front-line staff. There is no catch, it is just a simple thank you,” Mutter says. “All customers need to do is go onto our website, register with their photo ID card and they will be emailed a voucher which they can redeem in any store.”

A wide range of devices are available from beginner devices right up to advanced mods. We hope that the offer is a perfect opportunity to help more front-line staff to quit smoking.

Meanwhile, the company has also said that the closure of vape stores has made many quitters’ efforts to stop smoking harder than ever, even at a time of pandemic when public health is paramount.

“We know that a lot of smokers have used the lockdown as a time to finally quit smoking. The biggest challenge we have seen is that many smokers cannot find the right advice and guidance with the vape stores being closed during lockdown. Many customers have turned back to smoking, so it is critical we can offer as many options as possible to help them quit tobacco for good.”
